27 Days to go
This morning I found a great rout for my morning run. Clint is out of school now and can stay home with the kids while I go. It was so refreshing this morning to be out in the COLD air and feel myself MOVE. The fist mile was hard, it always is, but the next 3 went great. I had to stop in the last 3 and walk only a short ways. It felt great! My time was crappy, but now that I know where I'm going tomorrow should be better and hopefully I can cut down on the time. The course I run has a good balance of hills and flat surface. I feel good about it for now. I think I will be running everyday, except Sunday until we leave for Florida.

weeks 6 & 7
So another Week, 6 passed and I again failed at my attempt to do anything like I wanted to do. Week 7 has been a success! I feel great about this week. I have ran or walked 2 miles everyday and on Sat I will do my long run. I'm not sure how far I'm going to go this time, but I want it to be at least 3.5 miles, if not more. I have 7 weeks left until Florida and I need to keep the momentum up.

Week 4
This week was so so. Half of the week I ran and the other half I was chasing kids around. I didn't do my long run on Saturday b/c Clint and I stayed up to late talking and we went to the zoo that morning. But I feel okay about it in all. I did learn that I run farther and faster outside than I do on the treadmill. So today I will go run when Clint gets home so he can watch the kids for a half hour and then I will try to make week 5 better than I did last week. I am gaining more confidence in myself and realizing a lot about myself during this process. I should have started this a long time ago.

Week 3
So I had great intentions all week to work out. On Sunday when we came home form family things Kaily started to complain about her tummy and throat hurting. I thought it was just her being SO tired and worn out from spending the night with cousins. The next day she went to Preschool and was just fine. I got in 30 min of good running while listening to Conner cry. Monday night she got a high fever and started to do shake. The next day I watched her closely and she was SO clingy. I took her in on Wednesday and found out she had Strep. So b/c Clint was trying to get midterms done and other homework I didn't run b/c both kids just wanted their mom. Wed, more of the same; Thurs, more of the same. Friday came and Conner was acting sick and I took him into the Dr. This time he has an ear infection in her left ear. So...Hopefully now that we have the kids on meds week 4 will be much better.

Week 2
This week has been a bit more challenging to do. Late nights, late mornings all equal to an uneven wkout. I am actually doing my long run tomorrow b/c it's supposed to snow on Sat and last week I ran in the rain, but this week I don't want to run in the snow. I will do the regular work out the rest of the week and start regular again on Monday. The good news is it is getting easier, the whole running bit. Maybe someday I will be able to run that hill next to my house that is a mile long.

1 week down
Well...I did it! I wked out all week and ran a good 2 1/2 miles this morning. It is feeling really good and the best part is that inches are coming off. The weight part was nice, but I really want the inches off more than the weight. That will take care of itself with proper eating and continued exercise.

Yea To Fresh Starts
So I started running again! Last night my parents brought their old treadmill for me. They joined a gym so they don't need it anymore. I ran this morning and then I did Pilate's. I feel great! I know tonight I will be so tired, but I don't care. I am doing a walk/run method as outlined by Jeff Galloway. I think it's a great cardio workout, more so than just running. Any hoo, I'll keep ya posted as to my progress. This time there is no turning back, I only have 14 weeks left until the 1/2 marathon. I know I'm crazy!

Breast feeding
Ok, so I haven't been really great on the eating and I haven't been really great on the exercise, yet somehow I am loosing weight. I've thought about this all morning and have come to the conclusion that breast feeding is a great way to supplement my weight loss. My son loves to eat. He loves to eat as long as it's me, and as long as he eats, he is eating a ton. So I figure that he is eating all the extra off me. He did this when I was pregnant with him too. I lost 15 lbs before I actually started to gain weight. Now you may be asking yourself the same question I did today. "If I am loosing weight just by breast feeding than when I stop all that weight can come back on, AND if I exercise and eat better than I will loose weight faster and be in better shape with a less likely chance of gaining it back so fast." Now all I have to do is implement it....There is the real challenge.

what motivation
Well, I ran another 5k. I'm not doing very good. I did finish and I did do a good time considering it was mostly uphill and I was pushing a baby in a non jogging stroller. Still I really need to get my butt in gear and get going if I'm not going to die this Jan. when I attempt to run a 1/2 marathon. I wish it wasn't so hard to stay motivated.

so sleepy
I went to the church exercise class again today....it kicked my butt. During it felt so good to be wking out, but now it's 8 pm and I feel like it should be 10pm cuz I am so tired. I need to go shopping and I really have no energy to go, not to mention that it's that time of the month so I'm just tired anyway. I told Clint today that I seriously feel like I'm pregnant, the emotions and just the feeling of everything right now. I'm NOT prego! Any hoo, tomorrow I will run again and I will feel better. All these late nights and early mornings with the kids is making a very tired girl.

YEA for me
I stepped on the scale yesterday and screamed. 10 LBS. YIPEE! I am so excited. I know it only 10 lbs, but that is a lot when you have been as big as I am for as long as I have, and knowing how hard it is for me to loose the weight makes this an even greater accomplishment.
I am running every other day now and in Sept I will do another 5k. my stake puts one on every year and this one is REALLY challenging. Most of it is up hill and I walked it today. It about kicked my butt just walking it, so I will do that rout until the 5k and probably after that too, at least until I can do it without running out of air.

AH Running
I hate it when I run and my legs want to keep going but my lungs give up. This means that I HATE being out of shape. I have ran twice this week and gone to one class, tomorrow will be three days running. It feels so good to be out there again. I forgot how much I have grown to enjoy running. If you had told me I would be saying that 10 years ago I would have laughed in your face. I think great comps who forced me to go run with them on the mission taught me how stress relieving it was. Thank you to all those you have helped me learn this hard lesson. Now all I have to do is keep it up so I can run in Jan.

Time Off
I took some time off for the 4th of July week. We had so much going on that I couldn't get myself to do much. Not to mention my kids crazy sleeping schedule all of the sudden. Any ways, hope to get back on track this week.

Oh so SORE!
On Friday I went to my ward's wk out. They did a circuit training day. I thought it would be cool to try out. HOLY CRAP! I am SO sore! I haven't wked some of those muscles since who knows when. It feels really good to be so sore, but then also it really hurts. I know I'm being a total baby, but seriously I could barley walk yesterday and I feel like an old lady every time I use the potty (getting down to the toilet). I think I will continue to go. Get ready to be sore Thursday and Saturdays from now on. I'll let you know how it progresses. (=

Finally
Why is it that you can gain so much weight at an incredible fast pace, but loosing it seems to take forever. The good news is that I'm finally below 240, and I have a waist now. The preg belly is finally coming off. Clint even commented about the size difference. So, if it's not coming off in the pounds fast it must be coming off the inches faster. I really should measure myself.

Yeah for hills
I have started walking again. I decided to take it slow after we moved up here. I have not lived in a place so full of hills since my mission. My neighbor and I climbed this hill (twice) that literally when you're done your butt aches. Seriously, luv it! So after I'm not huffing and puffing while JUST walking than I will start running again. Next week I start the Pilates again, now that I have a place I can do it with out hitting a box of some sort. The weight loss thing has been on hold a bit to, I am loosing, but don't ask me how. Maybe it's the going up and down the stairs all day long...hmmmm.

Time
Wow over a month of not posting. Well, there is really nothing new to report. Since we moved I haven't done anything. The one thing that has changed is my eating habits. Clint goes to wk so early now that we have dinner at 3 pm and then I'm not really hungry the rest of the night. I do get munchies, but nothing like I used to. I asked around today to see if this is an ok area to run in and everyone said it was really quiet as long as you stayed in the neighborhood. This place is going to kick my butt. There are hills everywhere. Oh well, the plan is to start all over again on Monday. Here's to hoping.

Finding strength
Another week has gone by and I am still struggling with the whole exercise and eating thing. I am doing better about the sweets and as long as I don't buy ice cream we should be ok. My sweet tooth is still craving all those yummy things, but I have stood strong, FINALLY. I went shopping the other day and I really wanted some ice cream. The thoughts of just going to the near by McDonald's and getting an ice cream cone were SO tempting to me, but I was proud of myself, I stood strong and just went home.
Clint came home from wk the other night and mentioned to me that some of the woman there were going to do the Running With Angels 5k and asked if it was something I wanted to do. The ladies at his wk are just going to walk it. I got on the computer right then and signed myself up for it. Running with Angels is an inspiring book that has really helped my love for running grow and help me to realize that I can do it too. This is something can be possible for me even before I was willing to submit to it. From the web sight: "We are excited about the proceeds this race has created. There has been a fund established for women who would like to improve their health through various programs offered through Intermountain Utah Valley Regional Medical Center Women’s Clinic. A sincere thanks to you, our participants and your families for supporting this effort. It is a dream come true for those who benefit from these proceeds." That is why I am going to do it. I know the struggle it is to find your identity behind the fat and negative self-talk. I will probably walk the first bit and run the rest of it, that is my goal. The 5k is on the 17th of May. I'll let you know how things wk out.

YAY!
This week, so far, has been ok. I have done my pilates like I planned, but yesterday
Clint and I went to
Ogden to find a place to live so I didn't get to run. I was feeling horrible when I got home so I did more Pilates again and this morning will do a different pilates workout. The eating thing is a challenge for me because, well, I LOVE food. I enjoy good food and because I cook that means it tastes good most of the time. The challenge is finding healthy wholesome meals to make all the time that my husband and daughter will eat. That is my next quest, to learn how to cook healthy and have it taste good too. I love working out so I don't understand why it can be such a challenge for me to keep doing it. So frustrating sometimes. Any hoo, things are going well and I will weight myself again Monday morning. Thanx for your encouragement!

OUCH
This week has been a real challenge for me. There has been so much going on and I can't seem to get enough sleep to keep waking up early. Today it was 10 degrees outside. Mornings like that make it so I don't want to go ANYWHERE! Conner's blessing was Sunday and I must admit I ate horrible. I feel horrible! I guess it teaches me a good lesson then. =( Hopefully this week will be better.Tuesday, March 25, 2008
A Time For Change
I've thought about doing this for some time now, but now that I am trying to be serious about this whole training thing I thought it would be a good idea to blog about it, to keep me honest and accurate. In the next couple of days I will be daring and put a picture of myself up on this so that I can see progress, and everyone else can too. The pictures will be monthly, as change is slow to happen and not always noticeable right away. The difference between this blog and the others that I do is that this one is only about me and my goals.
Starti
ng anything can be tough, but I think starting a healthy lifestyle can be, for me, the most challenging. I went for a brisk walk today, 45 min. It kicked my butt! It's amazing how fa
st your muscle atrophy when you don't use them. Tomorrow is my Pilates day and abs. I will probably go walking later in the day when Clint gets home from school, we will have to see. The next goal is to eat right, that means no more ice cream. =( Vanilla ice cream is my all time biggest weakness, unfortunately it is also one of the highest in fat that I eat. GRRRR...
