So far after

I am 16 weeks tomorrow and things are looking good for me. I haven't gained much weight if any yet and I stall feel great. My cravings have gotten a little crazy and I think I need to ignore most of them for now. I really want to start eating healthy again. I've been consuming some pretty fatty foods lately and I can feel a difference in my body.

I had a great wkout with Ashley today and I'm not as discouraged as I once was. I know I can do some many things still and that feels good. The only thing that I am limited to is crunches. I can't do anything that requires that type of motion. It isn't as bad as I thought it would be though. I learned today that "plank" is a great ab strengthener as well as wking a few other muscles.

Clint is finishing up Finals this week so I haven't been wking out as much b/c he has to be at the school and not at home with the kids. I'm looking forward to next week when I can go regularly again and get back to my regular workouts. I've missed the bike and I'm ready to start running again. Clint and I decided that I would run in the early morning so I can run outside and not get overheated. I get overheated really easy when I'm pregnant, so I have to watch that. If this one is ANYTHING like Conner was I'll have my own little furnace.

I have another Dr appointment next week so until then...

Race Results

Well, I did it. It was great, frustrating, hard, and very worth it. I'm SO glad it's over with now. It feels like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders now that it's done. That may seem a little weird, but really I WASN'T supposed to be preg while running this and when I did get pregnant I was really sick with other things. I didn't start running again until a few weeks ago. Now I will keep running but I don't have to worry about the distance or how I will do with 13.1 miles.

THE RACE

4:30 Saturday morning my alarm went off. I got Clint up and we got ready to pick up my cousin to go to the SLC half marathon. I didn't sleep well the night before, I never do. I was excited and nervous about the distance and my endurance. We arrived with no problems except for TRAX being packed tighter than I think was legal. When we got to the starting line I had to pee. I had to with about 400 other people. So, I waited and waited and then the gun went off to start the race and I was still waiting. Finally at about 7:20 we crossed the starting line. The first mile I always panic a bit and run too fast. From then on it was good. We, as in Clint and I because he stayed with me, ran the first mile and part of the second. Then I had to pee AGAIN. This pattern continued until mile 6. FINALLY I was empty and didn't have to stop again until we were done. I did have to stop and walk due to cramping around mile 8 and we walked most of the way after that running every now and then so we wouldn't be in the back of the pack. When we got to the finish stretch I sprinted it to the end. IT was an emotional thing for me to finish. I started crying and Clint was worried I was hurt or something, but I wasn't. I was proud that I did it, that I finished. I hurt a bit and still hurt last night, but now I seem to be doing ok as long as I don't stay in one place for very long. I finsihed in 3:09:25.

FUTURE GOALS

Like I said above I plan on running until I can't anymore and I will walk through this whole pregnancy. The goal for AFTER the baby is born is to start training again for another 1/2 in Dec. on the treadmill. I am going to run the Deseret News 1/2 in July 2011. My goal for that one is to be under 3 hrs.

crazy?

I think I might be crazy to go through with this whole half marathon idea. I haven't been able to train like I should and I am feeling kinda skittish about the idea now. The weather in Utah on Sat has left much to be desired including the 17 degree weather last Sat when I was supposed to run 10 miles. Of course I'm not really running and I should say walking. I think this will be the last time for a really long time that I sign up for an event in April. At least for as long as we live in Utah. The weather just makes it too hard to train seriously, unless I want to freeze my you know what's off. I'm actually looking forward to the run in 2011 with Heather. The run will be in July, but very doable b/c they start early in the morning. Besides, if I can run in TX I certainly can run in July here.

I probably won't post in here until after the race so I'll let you know how it goes. Be looking for a new post about April 18th, maybe I'll be moving again by then.
